A day tossed from side to side to test the strength, determination and senses of humour of the team driving today. WHAT A HORRIBLE DAY! The weather bashed them to pieces, they had to miss out some very supportive destinations AND an allergy to stinging nettles brought them to a screeching halt just as they were making up time from last night… this is not what anyone expected. BUT, as you would hope and expect, they are back on track with a hint of triumph in their step.
I spoke to Jacks and Sophie (at different times) and at one moment I could hear the sheer exasperation at the downright unfairness of having the unknown, unrehearsed thrown at them and then the next moment, that same disappointment and frustration dissipate into a kind of understanding and, most importantly, humour. Loads of other people are ringing them too, and looking out for them via the website, blog, twitter and Facebook. The photos are brilliant, don’t you think?
Anyway, we’re excited about tomorrow when we get to cheer and be part of the picture as Jacks and her team come through Chippenham. They will stop at Greenways Ambulance Centre which is where Jacks is a paramedic (when she’s not driving horses from Lands’ End to John O’Groats, obviously!). Jacks’ children will be there, as will her parents and friends. I for one will be mightily happy to see them too.
…and Shh… I’ve got them a very big bag of chocolates!
